In an attempt to distract herself from the 20 page paper she was supposed to be writing, Mia decided to putter about on the Dallas Craigslist in search of some funky finds. She ventured into the "General" section, and happened upon a wondrous gem: a Mountain Hardware backpacking sleeping bag! These puppies go for 200 bucks new because they're super light, super warm, and super comfy. This one, which had been used a mere 5 times, was offered for 60! And the seller was a fellow (Oak)Cliffdweller to boot! A quick email to the seller and a call to Arik's dad, who graciously agreed to pick the bag up, and we could cross one more thing off our gear list:
We've got 5 months till our tour, are more than halfway to meeting our fundraising goal (thank you!!) and are slowly getting geared up- it's starting to sink in that we're really going to do this, and it's awesome and completely terrifying!
Be well,
Arik and Mia

What an awesome reason to ride! I have the same Lance Armstrong quote on my daughter's website. My four year old daughter Mollie was diagnosed with leukemia in June 2008 and since then we have been so touched by the fundraising efforts of so many people. Cancer research helps. It really does. Mollie would have died if not for the knowledge gained through many clinical trials. Now, thanks to the donors, researchers, physicians, and trial participants, Mollie and kids like her have a fighting chance. Best of luck reaching your goal!!
